L'Observateur

The Observateur, a moderate liberal newspaper, was founded on September 5th 1846 by Joseph-Hyacinthe Grillet and was published on Saturdays over four pages. With its only claim being to uphold the principals of freedom of the press, it sought “‘to rally around the flag of healthy democracy, a principal so frequently maligned as the happy medium” those citizens who sought to know the truth. The fiinal issue was published on December 4th 1847.
