    Summary
Learning plays an important role in the life of many animals, but how learning performance affects individual success is poorly understood. Here we asked whether the foraging success of ant colonies ( Lasius niger ) depends on the route-learning performance of its individuals. Our results suggest that individual learning performance affects colony foraging success only in certain environments and that exploratory activity is a more important predictor of colony foraging success.
