    Summary
    Total cancer mortality rates in the European Union (EU) are predicted to decline by 7% in men and 5% in women between 2009 and 2014. However, due to population ageing, total number of cancer deaths will rise to 1 320 000. Cancer mortality outlook for 2014 remains favorable in most cancer sites except for female lung (that rises to over 14/100 000 world standard) and pancreas in both sexes
