We described the design, synthesis and properties of racemic and optically-active liquid-crystalline monomers, polymers and dendrimers. The chirality was introduced via ferrocene derivatives unsymmetrically substituted at the 1,3-positions. Such a substitution pattern leads to structures with planar chirality.
