El orden de los libros: reflexiones en torno a la biblioteca del caballero don Quijote de la Mancha = The Order of Books : Thoughts on the Library of the Knight Don Quijote de la Mancha

Parello, Vincent

In: Arte Nuevo : Revista de estudios áureos, 2019, vol. 6, p. 335-356

The literary text is a real act of communication that connects individual or collective writers to their readers. So, through the order of books, it is possible to establish links between the library of Don Quixote de la Mancha and the library of Cervantes – that the former must partly mirror. It is also true for the output formats, the editions, the publishers, the publishing places, the dates...

Lope y la publicación de ocho (o diez) comedias «en otra parte»... ¿un primer proyecto editorial para su teatro? = Lope de Vega and the Publication of Eight (or Ten) Plays “en otra parte”… A First Editorial Project for his Theatre?

Fernández Rodríguez, Daniel

In: Arte Nuevo : Revista de estudios áureos, 2019, vol. 6, p. 330-334

The aim of this paper is to study the final lines of El peregrino en su patria (1604), which have not received the attention that they deserve, although they have given rise to different interpretations. As I will attempt to argue by analysing the text and its context, Lope seems to sketch two editorial projects of distinct nature, both of which were frustrated by the theatre business: the...

Sociabilidad literaria e imprenta: Academias poéticas madrileñas publicadas entre 1661 y 1663 : Literary Sociability and the Printing Press : Madrid Poetic Academies Published Between 1661 and 1663

Osuna, Inmaculada

In: Arte Nuevo : Revista de estudios áureos, 2019, vol. 6, p. 241-269

Towards 1650 the formation of poetical academies is a usual practice in several Spanish cities, and especially in Madrid. However, until the second half of the century there are no prints reproducing a specific Academy session, with the speeches of the literary act and the poems on demand. This publishing phenomenon stands out above all in Madrid, although, to a lesser extent, it reaches a few...

Aristocracia, academia e imprenta: Díez y Foncalda en su entorno aragonés

Cano Turrión, Elena

In: Arte Nuevo : Revista de estudios áureos, 2019, vol. 6, p. 193-240

In the Zaragoza of the mid-seventeenth century proliferated academies and the printing of poetry books; the relationships between the authors formed a thick plot (academies, dedications, preliminaries, anthologies...) in which more than literary links were established. Taking as point of departure the figure of Alberto Díez y Foncalda (Poesías varias, Juan de Ibar, Zaragoza, 1653), we...

Tres manifestaciones de la identidad literaria en el Diálogo de la alegría del alma contra el temor de la muerte (Cuenca, 1612): autor, editor y dedicatario = Three Manifestations of Literary Identity in the Diálogo de la Alegría del Alma Contra el Temor de la Muerte (Cuenca, 1612) : Author, Editor, and Dedicatee

Redondo Pérez, Germán

In: Arte Nuevo : Revista de estudios áureos, 2019, vol. 6, p. 179-192

It is not possible to affirm that only the author is behind a fictional text. Usually, a lot of agents and determining factors have an important influence in the literary product. This work focuses on the knowing of that union of factors and wishes that could configure the literary identity. Specifically, the particularities of the author, publisher and the person to whom is dedicated the book...

La poesía en «La ilustre fregona» de Cervantes = Poetry in Cervantes’ «La ilustre fregona»

Santa Aguilar, Sara

In: Arte Nuevo : Revista de estudios áureos, 2019, vol. 6, p. 148-169

Among the studies of the poetry in Cervantes’ Exemplary Novels, «La ilustre fregona» takes the second place. In fact, this novella has less inserted poems than «La gitanilla», and most of the studies are about «La gitanilla» or about a comparison between these two novellas. However, there are many nuances in this novella when it comes to the presentation of the...

Un poema sobre Murillo del ilustrado Cándido María Trigueros o la «Modernidad» en la literatura y el arte = A Poem on Murillo by the Enlightened Writer Cándido María Trigueros, or “Modernity” in Literature and Art

Román Gutiérrez, Isabel

In: Arte Nuevo : Revista de estudios áureos, 2019, vol. 6, p. 110-147

Although a somewhat heterodox man, Cándido María Trigueros was a prestigious figure among the intellectuals of the Enlightment, especially among those from his native Seville. This city played an important role in the advancement of the ideas of the Enlightment; at the same time, it became the main focus of recovery of Murillo’s work. In one of his lesser-known poems, Trigueros offers an...
