The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction was used to assemble fullerene, ferrocene and a second-generation liquid-crystalline cyanobiphenyl-based dendrimer. The targeted compound displayed an enantiotropic smectic A phase from 40 to 135 °C.
