A new strategy for the synthesis of a covalent triazine framework (CTF‐1) was introduced based on the cyclotrimerization reaction of 1,4‐dicyanobenzene using lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) under ionothermal conditions.
