    Summary
The use of subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's disease is limited in some patients by behavioural side-effects. Using perioperative electrophysiological recordings and presurgical neuroimaging, Accolla et al. characterize the anatomical networks modulated by deep brain stimulation, and reveal the existence of overlapping functional areas within the nucleus.
