Data are collected through phone-structured interviews to 905 residents with children in the German-speaking region of Switzerland during 2007. A Poisson model with random effects is used to explore factors affecting the demand for meals at school. The results show that meals price, household income, satisfaction with the current childcare service, family composition, and the area of residence signi cantly affect the number of school meals demanded. We estimate that the willingness to pay for a school meal is about 11.60 Swiss francs and does not depend on household income. 000029524 695__ $$9eng$$aDemand ; School meals service ; Panel count data ; Poisson regression ; Random effects ; Willingness to pay 000029524 700__ $$aMasiero, Giuliano$$uFacoltà di scienze economiche, Università della Svizzera italiana, Svizzera 000029524 700__ $$aMedici, Diego$$uFacoltà di scienze economiche, Università della Svizzera italiana, Svizzera 000029524 8564_ $$fwp1204.pdf$$qapplication/pdf$$s230127$$uhttps://doc.rero.ch/record/29524/files/wp1204.pdf$$yorder:1$$zTexte intégral 000029524 918__ $$aFacoltà di scienze economiche$$bVia Giuseppe Buffi 13, CH-6904 Lugano 000029524 919__ $$aUniversità della Svizzera italiana$$bLugano$$ddoc.support@rero.ch 000029524 980__ $$aPREPRINT$$bUNISI 000029524 990__ $$a20120703101851-CT
