000029383 520__ $$9eng$$aThe implementation of anti-doping requires strong moral justification, a clear definition of doping and methods of control which are deemed to be reliable, objective and valid. The historical research presented here focuses on how IOC's anti-doping measures were justified from their introduction in the 1960s to the end of the 1980s. Documents from the IOC archives constitute the primary sources of this account. Theoretically and methodologically, a constructivist approach rooted in historical discourse analysis is employed.
