Réorganisation de la réserve non-visitable du Laténium : Etat des lieux et projets de réaménagement

English French The subject of this research concerns the « non-visitable » depot of the Laténium where important archaeological collections are stored. This area of 300 square meters is used for the final storage of the collections but it has lost its primary fonction: preservation area for patrimonial collection. The same can be said for a lot of heritage collections. This project aimed to analyse the actual situation in the depot and ascertain the positive aspects and those that need to be improved. And so, the second part of this study helped to establish two redevelopment projects thereby allowing, by limiting the costs, to redefine it’s first target : the preservation of the collections. To achieve this goal, several studies were undertaken concerning : the collections, the building, the users’ needs, the environnement and finally the space. Thereby all information necessary for the implementation of a redevelopment project were at hand and relevant to the particular situation of the Laténium. As a result, two redevelopment projects were proposed ; they are complemantary enabling the first project to define the steps that need to be made first in order to guarantee a sustainable collection storage system. The second project, to be executed over a longer period of time, allows for a more overall reorganization of the space available thanks to the specific planning. These projects are made with the objective of lowering costs to a maximum in order that the financial hurdle does not arise creating bad interference with the storing of the collections. This study is made in the context of proposing a simplified redevelopment project for the Institution, by adapting it as close as possible to the current situation. That is why, a great deal of documents are proposed in order to homogenize the storage because a study of this kind must take into account the human aspect : the needs and expectations of the regular users of the depot. The dialogue established between the various keyplayers helped adapt the redevelopment project so that it can fulfill its function: functionality. In order to obtain success in the redefining of the depot, the five criteria established by Luc Remy : « fonctionnalité, accessibilité, consultation, préservation et sécurité4 » helped to establish a course of action in order to lead the project and ensure that it fulfills its function. This project reflects the plight of management of a depot in a heritage Institution were the activities are so varied and time-consuming that penalize areas less in the limelight such as the depot. Ce travail porte sur une réflexion autour de la réserve non-visitable du Laténium qui abrite des collections archéologiques. Cet espace, offrant une surface de 300 m2 pour le stockage définitif des collections, a perdu au fil du temps sa fonction première de lieu de conservation pour diverses raisons couramment observées dans les institutions patrimoniales. Le but de ce travail a donc été d’analyser la situation actuelle de la réserve pour définir les points positifs et ceux à améliorer en terme de stockage. De cette manière, la seconde partie de l’étude a permis d’établir deux projets de réaménagements complémentaires permettant, en limitant les coûts, de redéfinir son objectif premier : la conservation des collections. Pour ce faire, plusieurs études ont été effectuées sur les collections, le bâtiment, les besoins des utilisateurs, ainsi que l’environnement. Ainsi, toutes les informations nécessaires à la mise en place d’un projet de réaménagement étaient disponibles et en adéquation avec la situation réelle du Laténium. De cette manière, deux projets de réaménagement ont été proposés ; le premier a pour but de définir les étapes qui nécessitent d’être réalisées rapidement afin d’assurer aux collections un stockage pérenne. Le second permet, à moyen terme, de réorganiser totalement l’espace au travers d’aménagements plus spécifiques. Ces projets sont proposés de manière à réduire au maximum les coûts pour que la barrière budgétaire n’entrave pas le bon stockage des collections. Ce travail propose un réaménagement simplifié pour l’Institution, en s’ajustant toujours au plus près de la situation actuelle. Dans le même ordre d’idée, de nombreux documents ont été réalisés durant ce travail afin d’homogénéiser le rangement, car une étude de ce type doit également prendre en compte l’aspect humain, à savoir les attentes, les besoins et les avis des utilisateurs réguliers de la réserve. Ce dialogue établi entre ces personnes a permis d’adapter au mieux les projets afin de ne pas passer à côté de l’essentiel : la fonctionnalité. Pour réussir à redéfinir cette réserve, les cinq critères établis par Luc Rémy : « fonctionnalité, accessibilité, consultation, préservation et sécurité »3 ont permis de mettre en place une ligne de conduite pour diriger le projet et s’assurer qu’il remplisse sa fonction. Ce projet traduit bien la situation difficile de la gestion de réserve dans les institutions patrimoniales où les activités sont très variées et demandent énormément de temps, au détriment des espaces plus en retrait tels que les réserves.
